St.Sylvester's College Broadcasting and Media Unit

In the early millennium, St. Sylvester's Media Unit renamed as Broadcasting and Media Unit. Janaka Bandara Weerakoon started a new magazine named Sylvestrians in 2001. Bharatha Prabhashana Thennakoon become to the Chair in 2003. Bharatha Thennakoon made a new group of Junior Announcers. And he is the only Announcer who win a national level Announcing Competition ever in history. Bharatha Thennakoon create a new Inter School Media Forum, accompanied with 155 other Central Province Schools in 2005. Kasun Lakshitha became to the Chair after Bharatha Thennakoon.He is the youngest Super Senior President ever in college media unit history.He produced many Live morning programmes such as STAR OF THE WEEK,ALUTH SATHIYA,LIVE PRODUCTIVITY SURVEY and many others.and he also started a morning radio broadcast in college.He re-started college quarterly year magazine THE SYLVESTRIANS.according to the staff members his creativity helps a lot to college to achieve NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY GOLDEN AWARD in 2006.because of his creativity and leadership qualities he become the productivity steering committee leader when he was in grade 11.He become the Head prefect in the college for year 2007-2008.according to the principal he is the best Super Senior President in the media unit in resent past. Mr. Ajith W. Perera, Mr. E. M. U. B. Ekanayake, Mrs. M. K. Damunupola, etc... were the big shadow to the Unit.
