Nimal Peries, former St. Sylvester’s College and Kandy sportsman was unanimously elected President of the Kandy Dumbara Lions Club at its Annual General Meeting held at the Queens Hotel Ball Room. Nimal becomes the fourth president. As a sports promoter he has done a lot for hockey, football and rugger in the hills. He is the Chairman of Teleix Pvt Ltd and also partner of Etisalat.
The great social worker has done a lot for the needy heading the Kandy Dumbara Lions, his term will once more be full of social activities. He is planning a big social service programme to do be done during his term of office with the support of the rest of his committee. Nimal also serves in the century-old Kandy Club Committee, he is also planning for a sports carnival with a T/20 cricket tournament and a seven-a-side rugby.

He has won several awards as the entrepreneur of the year for 6 consecutive years. Won the Deshakeerthi award and was working as a Director in the Chamber of Commerce in Central Province; also holds the position of Committee Member at General Hospital – Peradeniya, and also as Director in the Dumbara Lions Club. He has been honoured by the Deshakeerthi Award and Rathnadeepa Award as well. Also appointed as an All Island Justice of Peace. He also works in Media field as the Provincial Correspondent for Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. Now he is the Chief Executive of TELE-PIX Group of Companies in Digital Photography, Printing, Advertising and a range of computer related services. |
